Karachi: Law enforcement agencies in Karachi have decided to launch a grand targeted operation in various parts of metropolis including Lyari and Azizabad.
A joint targeted operation by rangers and the police has been suggested to bring peace back in the metropolis. The federal cabinet has not yet decided to approve action teams for various parts of Karachi including Azizabad and controversial area of Lyari.
Sources claim this targeted operation is focused towards all kinds of criminals including land mafia, target killers, extortionists and drug mafia. A hit list has also been made by the law enforcement agencies.
The teams will comprise of rangers, police FIA, customs, excise and NADRA. On the other hand, intelligence agencies will inform the teams involved in taking action. Information against religious, ethnic and political parties will also be taken.
Regional teams of ISI, IB, MI and special branch of police are also made. Operations to be carried out on establishment level rather than merely forces involved. They will have the authority of checking license, registration from foreigners and can deport those who have been illegally living in Karachi.
In order to stop extortion a department will be made by Pakistan telecommunication authority (PTA). During the operation, option of stopping mobile signals is also under consideration.
