LAHORE: The Chief Minister of Punjab province, Shahbaz Sharif, on Saturday has approved master plan for Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Project in Cholistan.
CM Shahbaz Sharif approved master plan of the Cholistan’s solar park project while chairing high level meeting of Punjab Energy Council in Lahore on Saturday (today)
The Cholistan’s Quaid-e-Azam Solar Energy Park Project claimed to be capable of generating 700 Mega Watts of electricity while in first step of establishment, Punjab government will install 8 project of 50 MW each.
Shahbaz Sharif announced that the solar project capable of generating 700 mw will be installed over 10,000 yards field of land provided by Punjab government.
However, the chief minister ordered for immediate commencement of development works on the solar project after the approval, however, the completion time of the project is due to announced.
It is pertinent to note, Cholistan Desert locally known as Rohi sprawls thirty kilometers from Bahawalpur city of Punjab province which and covers an area of 26,300 km² while it adjoins the Thar Desert extending over to Sindh and into India.
The recent move of the provincial government would help to eliminate heavy crisis of energy shortage in Pakistan.
