Islamabad: Higher Education Commission (HEC) issues ranking for Pakistani universities ignoring economics and law institutions.
HEC’s has done favourism while granting ranking to its blue-eyed institutes completely neglecting universities teaching economics and law subjects. The students and teachers have strongly protested on the issue and demanded for immediate investigation.
According to a local newspaper, former Chairman of HEC, Javed Laghari had announced the ranking of the universities on 5th July 2013. Every year, the Commission used to announce the rankings that included the institutions of law and economics and also Nobel prizes were given.
The rankings neglected various universities including International Islamic University and Qauid e Azam University. The teachers and students strongly voiced their opinion against the controversial ranking.
Talking to local newspaper, the protesters said that it was sad that the rankings didn’t include names of these universities. HEC made use of favouritism as an option and thus law and economics universities are ignored. On the other hand, HEC states that there are various institutions teaching law and economics.
