ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said that all convicted persons involved in target killing and extortion cases has been identified by the authorities while there is only need of strike action in Karachi.
The interior minister suggested armed action against convicted persons but in targetted styled in Karachi, the metropolis of Pakistan.
While addressing the press conference in Islamabad over declining law and order situation in Karachi, Chaudhry Nisar claimed that targetted operation will definitely establish peace in the city.
He said that Karachi currently clouded with dangers, however, Director General (DG) Rangers is ready to commence operation while Chief Minister Sindh will be the ‘captain’ of the team.
Nisar accepted that peace situation in the metropolitan city is worsening day by day but it is not impossible to restore it.
He urged the stakeholders of the city to avoid watching everything via political glasses for the restoration of peace.
The minister said that majority of criminals including extortionists and target killers are associated with political parties for whom military operation should be initiated.
He said that establishment of law and order is responsibility of Sindh government and the declining situation of the city brings defamation to the provincial authorities.
The interior minister conveyed message to Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, he said that we are ready to present team for commencing operation and also confirmed maximum cooperation from the federal government.
He added that supervision of the operation will be made by prominent personalities while Rangers and security agencies control will also be given to him.
He claimed that DG Ranger assured for elimination of violence from the metropolis and agreed for an operation on condition of in-discriminatory action which should not be opposed by anyone.
Nisar clarified that situation cannot be controlled without handing over authorities to law enforcement agencies.
While commenting on media, Chaudhry Nisar said that the issues have to be resolved in cool manner but not with ‘breaking news’. He added that all issues of the countries will be resolved step by step but the government cannot take action against everyone on same time.
Clarifying his stance over Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s demand for army control, Nisar said that Pakistan Army is already engaged on different fronts and government do not want to take them in Karachi.
He clarified that he cannot support or reject the MQM’s demand but agreed to take concrete step for betterment of the city.
