ISLAMABAD: After the record rain during last thirty days flooding Rivers in Punjab, Sindh and KPK provinces of Pakistan are still on the rise.
According to TheNewsTribe’s correspondent from the flood affected areas River Indus in southern Pakistan is still in high flood with levels of water flowing through Sukkur and Guddu Barrages unremittingly on the rise.
In eastern part of the country Rivers Chenab and Ravi are yet running wild, official from the concern authority in Pakistan confirmed while talking to TheNewsTribe’s correspondent.
“The situation in the deluged areas continues to worsen without a letup across Pakistan” our correspondent from Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan added.
In River Indus, at the moment the at least 5, 68000 and 3, 95000 cusecs of water is flowing through Guddu and Sukkur Barrages respectively.
People living in the high-flood-risk areas across Pakistan especially in Sindh are constantly on the move towards safe places by their own.
Although Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Jamal Mustafa Syed has directed Deputy Commissioners of the districts along with Indus River for issuance of early warning to the people residing in Katcha areas to evacuate and move to safer places immediately but reports show that it’s too late now.
“All the higher officials and local staff have been directed to warn the people residing close to the river bank or under flood threat, through megaphones, word of mouth, and announcements, in mosques to evacuate and move to safer places immediately” said Syed.
Official estimates say a high-flood-tide of around 2,50,000 cusecs is passing by Multan and Muzaffar Garh right now on the River Chenab.
The floodwater in all Punjab Rivers Sutlej, Chenab, and Ravi wreaked havoc on property, communication infrastructure, and crops. The flood in River Ravi has so far affected 17 villages including Dalwan, Chishtian, Hashim Chakreeb, Jungle Seetand Bhopri in Mian Channu.
Hundreds of villages were inundated after India released water into River Ravi. The floodwater also cut off road link between Muridke and Narowal.
According to the independent sources in the country more than 100,000 people have been affected in disturbed areas.
In central Punjab city of Kasur, crops farmed over hundreds of acres of land went down the drain while floodwater deluged several villages. The health and other departments concerned have set up camps to facilitate the flood-hit people.
Also, following the fresh flood warnings issued for Balochistan, authorities were forced to relocate at least 224 prisoners from Jaafarabad and Naseerabad to Mach and Sibbi jails.
Opening spell ways of dames by India and fewer infrastructures in Pakistan are considered as main reason behind the situation.
Flood situation in Punjab, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Sindh have killed dozens of people in land sliding, house collapsing and other incidents.
