A unique Health Management Convention was organized at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), on Saturday August 17, 2013, according to IoBM Public Affairs Section.
This Convention has been first of its kind in view of the fact that Health Management has become an indispensable need for the very development and sustainability of healthcare industry in Pakistan. As such, quality health management was brainstormed in such areas as bioethics, patient centered care, support services, hospital waste management, financial controls etc.
To witness health care management insights of Health and Hospital Management students of IoBM were specialized posters and research based illustrations of a unique model of experiential learning. These students, who are already young doctors, pharmacists and budding professionals from the health related fields, presented top-of-the-line models in the planning, organizing, directing, controlling and the management of hospitals, pharmaceuticals, NGOs and allied services.
Participation to share the experiential learning models of IoBM health management students was from such hospitals as Indus Hospital, Tabba Heart, Liaquat National Hospital, Memon Medical Institute Hospital (MMIH), from such Pharmaceuticals like Abbott, GSK, ATCO, Pharmevo, from NGOs and Allied stakeholders as SINA, Maria Stopes, Pharmevo / Healthcare Paradigm, Essa Labs and Diagnostics and from pertinent institutions as the IBA and by Mr. Ghulam Haider Khan, Director, Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan.
The discussion forum on Health Management Syndicate Bridging the Academics-Industry comprised such topics as Partnering academics and the industry, Channelizing the gaps, Problem-based learning and case studies, Collaborative fronts, The tailor-made Health Manager and Reflections on the theme at large. Earlier Mr. Talib Karim, Rector, IoBM introduced the Institute and briefed about its students, faculty, infrastructure, facilities and training programs etc.
This Convention was organized by students’ CBM Society of Health Managers (CSHM), amid the guidance of Dr. Asima Faisal, Head of Department of Health and Hospital Management, Dr. Humaira Jawed, Senior Faculty Health and Hospital Management and Dr. Tayyaba Khan, President of the CSHM.
