An emphatic Manchester City defeated Newcastle United comfortably by 4-0 as Silva, Aguero, Toure and Nasri scored goal for their side at the Etihad Stadium.
The city’s win was not unexpected, but the manner of it will be a real concern for Newcastle who were found wanting in all departments.
It took the hosts six minutes to break the deadlock through David Silva, while Sergio Aguero brilliantly doubled the advantage with a fabulous finish 16 minutes later.
Newcastle’s miserable first half was then complete as Steven Taylor received a straight red card in stoppage time for striking Aguero on the back of the head with his forearm.
Steven Taylor’s mindless sending off made a difficult situation completely impossible and he will now serve a three match suspension.
Yaya Toure curled in a free kick from the edge of the box to make it three five minutes into the second period, and Samir Nasri came off the bench to grab the fourth.
Jonas Gutierrez picked up what looked to be a hamstring injury to compound a dire night that was played out to the audible anger of the travelling supporters.
The city on the other hand looked like a slick, formidable unit.
Edin Dzeko was declared man of the match.
