LONDON: Google is celebrating the 407th birthday of Rembrandt van Rijn, a Dutch painter and etcher, with its doodle.
The image features a portrait of Rembrandt van Rijn with the words Google written behind him.
The Rembrandt van Rijn painting looks classic and elegant and would have likely carried Rembrandt van Rijn’s blessings. Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn better known just as Rembrandt van Rijn was born in Leiden in the Dutch Republic in the Netherlands. Rembrandt van Rijn was born on the 15th of July 1606 and died in October 4, 1669 in Amsterdam.
He is generally considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art history and the most important in Dutch history. His contributions to art came in a period of great wealth and cultural achievement that historians call the Dutch Golden Age when Dutch Golden Age painting, although in many ways antithetical to the Baroque style that dominated Europe, was extremely prolific and innovative.
Rembrandt had produced over 600 paintings, nearly 400 etchings and 2,000 drawings in his lifetime in earlier 20th century but those extant are very less than presumed as only in earlier 20’s connoisseurs claimed Rembrandt had produced over 600 paintings, nearly 400 etchings and 2,000 drawings.
