PESHAWAR: At least 16 persons including three children were killed and 32 injured by car bomb blast in Badaber area of Peshawar, the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
Security forces’ convoy was targeted near Badaber police station in the incident when they were reaching back to Peshawar from Kohat.
Information Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province Shaukat Yousufzai said that Frontier Corps’ convoy was targeted in the attack and he confirmed the death of nine persons in the bomb attack.
However, 10 cars including 3 security vehicles had completely destroyed by the powerful bomb explosion while nearby shops also affected.
According to Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), explosives were planted in a car and 30 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack.
BDS officials added that the exact situation is still unclear whether the explosion was made by remote controlled devices or by a suicide bomber.
Rescue teams reached the site, shifted the dead bodies and wounded person to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital.
Heavy contingents of security forces have cordoned off the whole area and started a search operation.
