ISLAMABAD: A significant relief is expected in skyrocketing power outages throughout the country as the federal government decides to pay a staggering amount of Rs. 326 to power producers on Friday.
“The government will pay the amount on account of circular debt to independent power producers,” Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said this morning in national assembly.
“The payment will help generate more electricity and reduce duration of load shedding,” he further said.
Dar also informed that decision was taken to provide relief up to 30 percent to masses during Ramadan.
For this purpose, Rs. 2 billion has been set aside, he said and added that the amount would be used to provide subsidy on essential food items including flour‚ Ghee‚ sugar‚ Daal Channa‚ Milk etc.
