LONDON: PlayStation’s trailer for the PS4 lets us have a gander at the new console’s interface and how we might be using it.
Elaborating on the sort of flat design sensibilities that inform Microsoft’s current line of products (Xbox One included), Google’s suite of apps, and the PlayStation Network Store’s 2012 overhaul, we see how the PS4’s online capabilities differ from those of the current PlayStation 3.
Players will be able to post and like status updates, upload gameplay videos to show their friends how to get past tricky sections, flick back and forth between social and gaming components, and make use of a mobile companion app when they’re on the go.
Expectations are raised for the PS4’s network performance too, with more efficient downloads promised, users prioritizing between singleplayer and multiplayer components so as to join their friends all the quicker.
