LONDON: Will any of the console manufacturers support the 3D virtual reality visor Oculus Rift? Talking to Engadget, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said, “we’ve got a couple of the development kits, and I tried it out and I love it.”
He confirmed that the Rift doesn’t currently work with the PlayStation 4, but when asked about its prospects for future compatibility, “he only offered a ‘No comment’ with a big smile,” reports the tech site.
But though there’s considerable excitement around both the PlayStation 4 and Sony’s revitalized reputation, as well as the Oculus Rift technology, Yoshida might have another resolution on his mind.
Sony has been working on its own virtual reality head-mounted displays, with the HMZ-T1 and HMZ-T2 range of Personal 3D Viewers making it to retail, though at $999 more expensive than the Rift’s $300 development kit.
