ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called Deputy Chief of Mission in US Embassy Islamabad on Saturday, lodged an extreme protest on Miranshah drone strike which was carried out on Friday.
Following an order of Chief Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif, special advisor of Foreign Affair, Mr. Tariq Fatimi met the Richard E. Hoagland and protested over drone strike inside Pakistani territory.
Earlier on Friday, a US drone strike killed seven persons in northwest Pakistan, the first since Nawaz Sharif was sworn in as prime minister this week calling for an end to such attacks.
The missiles hit a compound in Shokhel village, more than 100 kilometres (60 miles) southwest of Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan tribal district which is known as a stronghold of Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked militants.
Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman, in a statement, said that the United States Embassy was informed that the drone strikes on Pakistani territory were a clear violation of International Law and Pakistan’s sovereignty as well as leaving negative impact over war against terrorim.
