LONDON: Sony’s minute-long trailer for the company’s PlayStation presence at the Electronic Entertainment Expo on June 10 asks us to anticipate live game demos, developer interviews, and games revealed for the PlayStation 4.
Much of the footage is cut from previous Sony conferences, including the PlayStation 4 reveal in February, so there are no new surprises game-wise.
Epic’s Unreal 4 engine, visual riddle “The Witness,” futuristic action game “Watch Dogs,” and a partially obscured clip from “Destiny” are known quantities to at least some degree, as are scenes from “DriveClub,” “Killzone: Shadow Fall,” “InFamous: Second Son” trailers, or “Tearaway” on the portable PlayStation Vita.
One more incumbent revelation not spelled out but very keenly felt is the mysterious look of the new PlayStation 4 console.
Only its controller and parts of the interface were shown during that February meeting, with the shape of the box kept in the dark.
Microsoft chose to reveal the design of its upcoming Xbox One, essential and packed-in Kinect camera and movement sensor, and more traditional-looking controller during a late May event but, like Sony, stopped short of announcing a launch date.
