LONDON: The VoIP Skype competitor Jego from network carrier China Mobile has rolled out worldwide across both Android and iOS devices.
Jego has many of the same features as its rival, the more established VoIP service Skype, including free calling and messaging services between users. However Jego also features HD video calls and gives users the ability to call any China-based number for $0.022 per minute, which is reportedly cheaper than Skype, which charges $0.026 per minute in addition to a connection fee.
Jego also enables users to choose to pay a monthly fee of $15.99 for unlimited calling to China or $11.79 a month for unlimited calling to Hong Kong. In comparison a Skype package costs $16.09 per month, though it does enable users to make unlimited calls to all regions of the world.
The Jego app from China Mobile can be downloaded around the world, for free, from the Google Play and Apple App Store.
