ISLAMABAD: Fearing for country’s split again in case constitution is not followed with full spirit, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) President Javed Hashmi stresses need to frame a strategy to ensure supremacy of the constitution.
“PTI will support any initiative and effort aimed at supremacy and upholding of the constitution,” veteran politician known for his clear stance against dictators said while speaking on a point of order.
He feared that if the constitution’s upholding was not ensured in future, the country could again face a split.
Hashmi was referring to split of the south Asian state in 1971, when Bangladesh, earlier called Eastern Pakistan, separated from Pakistan.
“It is the responsibility of the elected members to work for the resolution of problems faced by the masses,” he said and believed that adherence to the constitution was the solution of the national problems.
