KARACHI: The menace of load shedding has got out of control in Karachi as scathing heat gripped the country while Bin Qasim power plant is closed due to gas shortage.
Load shedding for 8 to 10 hours of duration has added to the woes of the dwellers of the metropolitan city of Pakistan, given the intense heat and weather conditions.
Duration of load shedding has been increased due to significant shortage of gas, according to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC).
The areas which are highly affected by the load shedding include Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulzar Hijri, Metroville and Korangi.
According to KESC, Sui Sothern Gas Company (SSGC) is providing 120 million cubic feet instead of 276 million which caused at least 560 mega watts electric shortfall in Karachi.
KESC representative said that KESC will not responsible for any mishap but SSGC, if law and order situations worsen in Karachi.
The representative added that KESC would file case against SSGC for gas supplies shortage.
Moreover, reacting to the adversity, several people have took it to the streets to warn the authorities of further power degradation.
