Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Rehman Malik on Thursday said that Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan wanted to appoint their man as the prime minister of the country.
Speaking at a press conference at MQM headquarters, 90, Malik appealed people of Pakistan to reject pro-Taliban leaders as the militant outfit had permitted some Islamist parties to run their their campaigns freely.
The former interior minister said that militants are targeting every Pakistani and they did not discriminate among Punjabis, Sindhis, Baloch and other ethnic groups of the country.
He further said that ANP, MQM and PPP had to make joint efforts in order to fight against terrorism.
Malik also applauded MQM chief Altaf Hussain over his predication a year before of increasing terrorism in the country.
“Earlier MQM and ANP were blamed for killings in Karachi but now it has been proved that it was militants who were killing members of the both parties.”
It is due to coalition government in Balochistan that helped improving the law and order situation in the province, he claimed.
