You can hear exchange of harsh words between political rivals, Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif, these days as election day gets near.
But it will be surprising for you to note that these arch rivals of Pakistani politics have many similarities too.
Both of the leaders are struggling hard to find lion’s share in national and provincial assemblies’ seats from the most populated province of the country, Punajb.
1. Both Remained Associate with Cricket
Both of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leaders were cricketers in their youth days. However, Imran got a global fame before and after winning 1992 Cricket World cup.
2. Not Family Politicians
Khan and Nawaz Sharif are basically not traditional politicians who usually got politics training from their families. Nawaz Sharif was a simple businessman when his family turned its focus on politics after being maltreated by then prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
Similarly, as noted above, Imran Khan was a professional cricketer and not from a traditional politicians’ family.
3. Passion for Welfare
There is no need to mention welfare projects from Imran Khan as he has Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital and university like NUML on his credit.
But surprising thing for many could be regarding Nawaz Sharif. Actually Nawaz and his family run a number of welfare projects in Raiwind including hospital and other institutions.
4. Large Mansions
Both of the leaders live in mansions, instead palace, with outclass decoration and localities.
Nawaz Sharif’s Raiwind Palace is stretched over an area of around 2 million square feet with infrastructure of millions.
Imran Khan’s farmhouse in Bani Gala, Islamabad, stretched over 300 Kanals with a lavish interior and exterior.
