Washington: United States, at odds with Iran over its nuclear program, has offered assistance to Tehran over the strong earthquake of 7.8 magnitude that also hit Pakistan, India and other gulf countries.
Giving a routine press briefing at State Department, the spokesperson expressed grief over the quake and said that they were ready to provide assistance in recovering from the losses.
Responding to a question regarding elections in Pakistan, Victoria Nuland said that the US would send observers to Pakistan along with the European observers.
“Peaceful elections are important for Pakistan,” she added.
Speaking on Musharraf’s disqualification, the spokeswomean said that the US respects Pakistan courts’s verdicts on the disqualification.
