KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued contempt notices to Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim and other officials of the Election Commission for not issuing notification pertaining to the delimitation of seven constituencies of Noshero Feroze district of the province.
The court also issued stay order against the printing of ballot papers for 11 constituencies of Karachi till April 21 on Monday.
Last month, applicant Mureed Ali Shah filed a petition for the delimitation of two national and five provincial assemblies’ constituencies in Noshero Feroze.
A two-member divisional bench of the SHC had ordered the ECP to issue notification regarding delimitation of the said constituencies.
Applicant Mureed Ali Shah filed a contempt petition on Monday against the Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim and other officials of the ECP including Justice (retd) Fazlur Rehman, Justice (retd) Roshan Esani, Justice (retd) Shahzad Akber Khan and Riaz Kiyani.
On this, the court issued notices to the CEC and others for April 21.
The same bench also issued stay order on the printing of ballot papers for 11 constituencies of Karachi till April 21 over the petition filed by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar.
