ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has declared the appointment of Security and Exchange Commission Pakistan’s (SECP) chairman void.
The appointment of chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali, was challenged by a former officer of SECP, alleging that his appointment was made in violation of rules and regulations.
A two judge bench of the apex court headed by Justice Jawad S. Khawaj announced the short order in the case on Friday.
The bench, declaring the appointment void, ordered the government to appoint new chairman soon.
