KARACHI: India has established special cells in its three ministries to closely monitor Pakistan’s general election, a report said on Thursday.
“India has established the cells with name “Election Pakistan” in its three ministries including external affairs, interior and defence,” Pakistan leading Urdu daily Jang reported.
Pakistan is set to hold its general election on May 11 and it will be the first democratic transition of power in the history of the country.
“Around 1000 officers, expert on Pakistan affairs, have been hired to work in the cells.”
The paper further said that Indian government has also directed its ambassadors in Afghanistan, Iran, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia to gather information about the election and possible ruling government in the neighbouring country.
