Multan: Pakistan politician Jamshed Dasti on Wednesday announced to quit politics and will live his remaining life in anonymity.
Dasti was seen crying while announcing to quit politics during a press conference in Multan. He said that he was a labour and would spend his all life being a poor labour.
The politician said that doors of the power corridors were closed by the feudal mindset for the poor.
He further criticized his opponent Hina Rabbani Khar in Muzzafargarh constituency and said that Khar was made foreign minister on the special request.
Dasti has been accused of having a fake degree and a District and Sessions Court is expected to announce a verdict in the case on Thursday.
Last month, Dasti had announced that he was quitting the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and will run for elections as an independent candidate. He had been elected from the Muzaffargarh NA-178 constituency in the 2008 elections and again through subsequent by-elections.
District courts and police across the country swung into action on April 2, awarding sentences and arresting former lawmakers and aspiring electoral candidates alike for submitting fake degrees or having dual nationalities.
He further said that he would not run away from the courts over fear of prosecution adding that he would appear before court on Thursday (tomorrow).
