ISLAMABAD: Acting U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan David D. Pearce visited Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani on March 26. Ambassador Pearce arrived on March 26 from Kabul, where he had participated in the official visit to Afghanistan of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.
Ambassador Pearce noted the importance of Pakistan’s support for the Afghan reconciliation process, including through the U.S.-Afghanistan-Pakistan Core Group. He said the U.S. wanted to continue this coordination in support of peace in Afghanistan as well as a secure, stable, and prosperous region.
Ambassador Pearce congratulated Pakistan on its upcoming elections saying, “The United States looks forward to free and fair elections that will result in the first civilian democratic transition in Pakistan’s history. This is truly an historic moment for Pakistan.”
He also met with Pakistani senators Mushahid Hussain and Afrasiab Khattak.
