Islamabad: Almost 136 political parties of Pakistan will be assigned symbols by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday (today) for the upcoming general elections.
Representatives of 136 political parties, which had applied for allotment of symbols, are invited to the ECP office. The Commission will allot the symbols to the parties in their presence today.
In case more parties applied for the same symbol, the ECP will allot it to the party which had contested the last elections using that symbol.
If more than one party applied for a same new symbol then the decision will be made through a draw.
The ECP has also invited those parties which had applied for ‘Pakistan People’s Party’ as its party name.
Naheed Khan has applied for registering a new party with the name of “Pakistan People’s Party” while Ghinwa Bhutto has applied for changing its party’s name from People’s Party (Shaheed Bhutto) to “Pakistan People’s Party”.
