Islamabad: The Pakistan Education Atlas project was launched on Sunday for the improvement of the educational statistics and indicators by using geographical information system (GIS).
The project was started in 2010, in collaboration with the Academy of Educational Planning and Management (AEPAM), the Ministry of Education and Training and World Food Programme.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Education and Training Sheikh Waqas Akram has appreciated the efforts of the AEPAM on usage of Geographical information system (GIS) technologies in the project and also thanked the World Food Programme for its support.
He said, “The new system will help us make sound educational planning, monitoring and evaluation.” He also desired that the system should be extended to union council level in future.
