Islamabad: Pakistan’s former ambassador to United States, Hussain Haqqani has once again refused to return Pakistan to testify in the memogate scandal case listened by a bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to sources, replying to letter from the interior ministry, Haqqani termed the current period for his return as dangerous and said that he could not risk his life just only for clearing accusation on him.
A nine-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry had directed the interior ministry to make fool proof arrangements for the return of Haqqani, who is the main accused in the case.
The memo case hearing would begin today in the apex court of the country. Haqqani’s lawyer Asma Jhangir would appear before the court on behalf of his client.
Meanwhile, the interior ministry had told the registrar of the apex court about the fool proof security arrangements of the former ambassador on his return to Pakistan.
