Karachi: During different firing incidents on Tuesday in Karachi, nine people fell prey to violence and many others injured.
According to police sources, unidentified assailants shot dead a Muttahida Ulema Council office-bearer, 42-year-old Tauqeer Hassan, son of Sanaullah, within Pakistan Bazaar police station jurisdiction.
The victim was standing outside his home in Bihar Colony area of Orangi Town. His aunt Taranum Banu was also injured in the incident, the sources said.
Another incident occurred in Bhains Colony area, within the jurisdiction of Sukhan police station, in which unidentified armed men opened fire upon Pakistan Machine Tool Factory (PMTF) Managing Director (MD) Muhammad Ashraf Parvaiz and General Manager (GM) Mohammad Kashif when they were leaving in their car.
According to sources Ashraf was killed on the spot while Kashif was injured.
At least four more people were killed in a firing incident at a mobile phone market in Landhi area of the metropolis.
Police sources said that a man opened indiscriminate firing at the mobile market of Daud Chowrangi Landhi, killing four people. Police arrested the accused and began probe. Rescue teams shifted the bodies to a hospital.
A 30-year-old person, Safdar Ali Kazmi son of Waqar Ali Kazmi, was gunned down by unidentified armed men near airport signal, within the remit of Airport police station.
A 50-year-old man, Ejaz Siddiqui son of Ishfaq Siddiqui, was killed by a gunfire by unknown armed men in Korangi Industrial Area.
Another person was shot dead in Nazimabad Gol Market area while his brother was injured by unknown assailants. The dead body and injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital for autopsy and treatment respectively.
