Mahmoud Abbas meets President Zardari; gets guard of honour at Aiwan-e-Sadr

Islamabad: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and discusses bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest here.

Abbas, who is on official three-day Pakistan trip with 11-member delegation, received warm welcome from President Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Abbas was also presented guard of honour by Pakistan army.

This is President Abbas’ first visit to Pakistan after the recognition of Palestine as a Non-member Observer State by United Nations.
