Brussels: The European Parliament has approved a resolution condemning brutal attacks on the anti-polio campaigners in Karachi and Peshawar, two metropolitans of Pakistan.
According to reports, the resolution demanded Pakistan to ensure the security of the health workers in the country and continue its efforts to eradicate the disease from the country.
Efforts by international and national bodies have been harmed by a series of killings and attacks on medial and aid workers.
Chairman of the European Parliament Friends of Pakistan group, Sajjad Karim MEP, who co-signed the resolution earlier this week said, “The country has faced many challenges in recent times, with devastating floods and now violence against international aid workers. However progress is taking place to ensure that Pakistan will eliminate polio for all its citizens. “
Karim also expressed his belief that the Pakistan government would do as much as possible to protect humanitarian workers and see the end of the crippling disease in Pakistan.
