Islamabad: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has decided to file a plea in Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) against his conviction and disqualification by the apex court in contempt of court case.
On April 26, 2012, a seven-member bench of the apex court convicted Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in contempt of court proceedings against him for refusing to comply with an order to write a letter to the authorities in Switzerland asking them to re-open corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
Talking to media on Friday, Gilani said that he would file the plea in the court on Saturday (tomorrow), asking the court to review his disqualification for five years to take part in the elections of the country.
“I am consulting legal experts over the issue and would appear before the court for the proceedings,” he added.
