Islamabad: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday warned the Pakistan Awmi Tehrik (PAT) to evacuate the sit-in spot by tomorrow otherwise a targeted operation would be carried out against the sit-in, led by PAT chief Tahirul Qadri.
Talking to media, Malik said that there were several ways to evacuate the place and the security officials are considering to it.
“It will be a targeted operation not just like Lal Masjid operation,” he said adding that women and children would not be hurt in the operation.
The interior minister said that the security agencies have conveyed four red alerts indicating threats to the PAT leader.
“There were threats that Saif ullah Baqi has planned to target the sit and the militants have reached Rawalpindi,” he said.
“The sit-in of Tahirul Qadri was unconstitutional as declared by the political parties across Pakistan.”
He further asked Qadri to whom he met in his secret meeting in F-6 area of Islamabad for 40-45 minutes adding that the PAT leader could not fool people through his speeches.
The minister further asked Qadri’s wife to appear along with him and gave call to the women to stay with the marchers till the last point.
