Washington: The United States (US) State Department spokesman on Thursday refused to comment on the Abbotabad commission report and release of Afghan Taliban from the Pakistani prisons, here on Thursday.
During a routine briefing at State Department, Victoria Nuland refused to comment on the report saying that it was still not made public by the Pakistani government.
On May 2, 2011, US Navy SEALs carried out a secret operation in the garrison town of Pakistan, Abbottabad, killing the most wanted al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and his other accomplices.
The Pakistani government formed a judicial commission to find out the facts that how al-Qaeda chief was able to reside in a high security zone of the country and how US Navy SEALs carried out an operation within the country’s territory without any interception from the troops.
The spokesperson further declined to comment on the release of the Afghan Taliban prisoners but said that Pakistan and United States were supporting the reconciliation process in the war-torn neighbor of Pakistan.
According to a Pakistan Foreign Office statement on Monday, eight more Taliban prisoners including Ex-Justice minister Mullah Nooruddin Turabi and Ex-governor Hilmond Abdul Bari were released in order to boost the reconciliation process in the neighbouring country.
Pakistan also released 18 prisoners at the request of the Afghan High Peace Council, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in its statement.
“Afghan government wants Isaf and Nato forces to train the military of the country,” she added.
