Karachi: A State-of-the-art Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units at Civil Hospital Karachi, established by the Dowites Alumni 1986 as Silver Jubilee Gift to the alma-mater was inaugurated on Wednesday at Arag Audorium of Dow Medical College, Karachi.
Professor Masood Hameed Khan, Vice Chancellor Dow University of Health Sciences after inauguration speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion lauded the tradition of “Giving back to the alma-mater” by the Alumni of Dow Medical College as a unique trend in Pakistan and congratulated the Dow on completing this Rs.40 Million project in time.
Dr. Rizwan Jabir, highlighted the importance of specialized Neonatal and Pediatric intensive care in the public sector whereby not only the care of very small children will improve but also train human resources in critical care medicine.
Professor Abdul Bari Khan, Project Coordinator thanked the Edhi Foundation and donors for helping the Dowites 86 in completing the project in time. He further stated that the alumni will continue to support the project for its recurring expenses.
Professor SaeedQuraishy, Medical Superintendent Civil Hospital Karachi thanked the alumni and expressed the hope that like other alumni projects the Intensive Care Units will provide critical care to the poor patients coming to this Civil Hospital Karachi.
The ceremony was attended by Professor UmerFarooq, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Junaid Ashraf, Principal Dow Medical College, donors, members of the faculty of Dow University of Health Sciences and the Dow alumni 1986.
