Islamabad: Pakistan’s president Asif Ali Zardari summoned report on the brutal killings of anti-polio activists in Karachi and Peshawar, two provincial capitals of Pakistan, here on Tuesday.
Five anti-polio campaigners including four women were gunned down in Karachi and Peshawar in an hour in separate incidents on Tuesday while World Health Organization has halted the drive in the provinces with immediate effect.
According to presidential spokesman Farhat ullah Babar, the president directed the authorities to submit the report within 48 hours.
The president said that the attacks on the activists were unfortunate and the government is committed to free Pakistan from polio disease.
