Islamabad: The Pakistani politicians on Wednesday lashed out at the independent British news website, The News Tribe, over revealing facts about a deal between the two top political parties in the country, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Earlier in an exclusive report published by the news website, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had reportedly reached a deal to sign a new National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) before the upcoming general elections in Pakistan.
Under the deal, Asif Ali Zardari would remain the country’s president and the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif would be the next prime minister.
Talking in a private news channel programme, News Beat, the PML-N leader Omer Sohail Zia Butt and PPP Leader Fawad Chaudhry refuted the claims and alleged that the British media was working on the agenda of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI).
It is to be mentioned here that the PTI had always criticised the PML-N leadership for having soft corner for their political rivals during the last democratic tenure.
The PML-N leader said that there was no truth in the report of a deal between the two rival parties but said that there was no problem in contacting President Zardari as he was the elected president of Pakistan.
Fawad Chaudhry also rebuffed the claim but added that his party was ready to make alliance with the PML-N in the next elected assemblies.
On the other hand, PTI leader Inamullah Khan Niazi endorsed ‘The News Tribe’ report and said that Nawaz Sharif restricted his brother and PML-N leader Shahbaz Sharif from using harsh language against Zardari which indicates that there was something going on behind the scenes.
He further said that with each others’ cooperation, the two parties had looted the country’s money with both hands during the last five years.
