Karachi: Secretary Health Sindh, Aftab Ahmed Kathri said that around 639 people with dengue fever were admitted this year to different hospitals around the city.
In a meeting called to plan an effective strategy against the dengue fever, the secretary said that in the current year 639 people were diagnosed with dengue fever and two of the total patients died. On the contrary, 1326 people were found affected with dengue fever in 2011 and 16 of them died.
He also said that last year only 50 patients were found in need of the platelets. Due to effective planning not only there is a constant decline in the dengue patients, we have also controlled the ratio of deaths due to dengue fever, he added.
He said that on the order of Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed, necessary medicines for the cure of dengue fever were given to various hospitals. Separate wards are formed for dengue patients in nearly all hospitals in the province.
