Lahore: Stags beat Karachi Dolphins, Abottabad Falcons grabbed victory against Islamabad Leopards while Lahore Lions overpowered Multan Tigers on Monday at the exhilarating Faysal Bank Twenty20 Championship at different venues of the city.
In the match played between Karachi Dolphins and Bahawalpur Stags at Bagh-e-Jinnah, the latter beat the former by two wickets.
Stags won the toss and chose to field in the match umpired by Ahsan Raza and Shozab Raza of Pakistan, while the match referee was Ishtiaq Ahmed.
The Dolphins made a good score of 152 runs at the loss of 6 wickets with a rate of 7.6 runs per over. Openers of the team couldn’t total a big score for the team but Captain Amin-ur-Rehman and Fawad Alam made it worthwhile with 44 and 43 runs respectively.
Stags remained successful in chasing the total with a splendid rate of 7.85 runs per over. Opener Imranullah Aslam ensured a good start to his team with 48 runs on 32 balls.
Crowd stunner Shahid Afridi took two wickets for 16 runs for the Dolphins while Muhammad Talha of the opponent team grabbed three wickets for 43 runs.
In the second match, Islamabad Leopards were beaten by Abottabad Falcons by 2 wickets. Leopards couldn’t give their opponents a big score and landed on just 116 runs in the designated 20 overs. None of their players could score much except Imad Wasim who made 45 runs on 32 balls.
Falcons easily completed the target at a rate of 6.05 runs per over. Captain Mir Azam gave great start to his team with his outstanding 59 runs on 35 balls. From the bowling side, Umar Gul remained prominent by taking four wickets on 21 runs.
Lahore Lion won by 30 runs against through its unbeatable 182 runs on 9.1 runs per over. Ahmed Shahazad and Umar Akmal of the team remained top scorers with 68 and 55 runs respectively.
In reply, Multan Tigers could only make 152 runs in 20 overs despite four of their players scored good average runs.
In the fourth match of today, Faisalabad Wolves remained victorious by eight wickets. Opener Farrukh Shehzad remained not out with 57 runs on 51 balls.
Hyderabad Hawks who had chosen to bat could only appear on the scoreboard with 97 runs. Rizwan Ahmed of the team remained prominent with 41 runs on 49 balls. Each of three bowlers of the team took two wickets.
In the last match of the day, Sialkot Stallions managed to gain victory over Karachi Zebras by successfully chasing the target of 111 runs. Shoaib Malik scored an outstanding half century on 31 runs.
Though most batsmen of the defeated team scored good average runs, the overall team run rate wasn’t very good. Adeel Malik took three wickets for 19 runs.
The Faysal Twenty 20 Cup featuring 14 regional teams commenced at the provincial capital on Dec 1 and will run until 9th of the month, putting forth 45 exciting matches for their viewers.
