Karachi: Veteran Pakistani batsman Mohammad Yousuf stepped down as a captain of Lahore Lions few moments before the commencement of the match in favor of captain Pakistan Cricket team Mohammad Hafeez.
Senior Pakistani batsman Mohammad Yousuf was declared the skipper of Lahore Lions but as Mohammad Hafeez switched to play for Lahore Lions, Yousaf bowed out, vacating the spot for current Pakistani T20 captain.
According to Lahore City Cricket Association President Khwaja Nadeem, “Yousaf was asking me for quite a few days that he wanted to play as an ordinary player since Hafeez is the National team captain, he should also lead the Lahore team.”
Hafeez earlier played for Faisalabad Wolves under the captaincy of Misbah ul Haq and this is the first time, he has changed the region.
Lahore Lions won its first match against Karachi Zebras by seven wickets on Saturday. Hafeez became man of the for his all round performance.
