Karachi: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Secretary on Friday said that new demarcation of the constituencies would help in improving the law and order situation in Karachi, a metropolitan of Pakistan.
Talking to media after consulting political representatives over the new constituencies, Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan said that the Supreme Court (SC) was concerned over the situation in Karachi.
“New constituencies will help improve the situation in the city,” he said adding that it was difficult to go ahead on the issue without consulting political stakeholders.
He also said that Sindh government had assured support on the new constituencies adding that political parties also agreed to implement the orders of SC.
“MQM has not opposed the new constituencies,” he said, while responding to a question regarding MQM opposition, adding that they only demanded to present written order of SC.
He further added that MQM’s stance was fair as it was the oral remarks given by the judges not a written order of the apex court.
