Manchester: Former English cricket great Andrew Flintoff to make his professional boxing debut today as he squares up to American boxer Dawson in a four-round heavyweight contest at Manchester Arena, England, for his first trained bout.
Flintoff, 34-year-old, has conducted hard training for his debut stint assisted by former world featherweight champion Barry McGuigan and other boxing professionals.
Expressing his untiring efforts for the competition, former fast bowling all-rounder said, “Training for his bout has been the hardest thing he has done.”
He intended to continue to fight if his first bout is a success denying his venture into boxing is a gimmick for a reality television show.
“It has been a hard road, the toughest thing I’ve ever done,” Flintoff said adding that it would be sad to have just one fight after all I have put into this, all the training and technical stuff it would be a waste.
