Colombo: New Zealand set a target of 363 for Sri Lanka on the fourth day of the second and final Test on Wednesday by declaring their second innings at 194-9.
New Zealand scored 412 in their first innings. In reply the hosts were bowled out on 244. Thilan Samaraweera was top scorer from the host team with 76. Pacemen Tim Southee took five wickets and Trent Boult took four for New Zealand.
In 2nd innings kiwi skipper Ross Taylor was main scorer with 75. Debutant Todd Astle and Brendon McCullum scored 35 each, while left arm spinner Rangana Herath took three wickets for Sri Lanka.
Following their 10-wicket win in the opening Test in Galle the hosts lead the series by 1-0.
