Quetta: Patients became helpless as doctors and Balochistan government conflict continues in the restive province.
Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan called on a strike after the abduction of Dr Saeed Ahmed Khan, an eye specialist and head of LRBT Hospital, on October 16 from Sariab Road in the provincial capital.
Doctors’ strike still continues after 41 days despite the government warning. Government warned doctors to end the strike and come back on their duties otherwise strict administrative action would be taken against them. But doctors ignored the warning and till the fulfillment of their demands they have vowed to continue their strike.
Government suspended many doctors including six professors of grade 20 and President PMA Balochistan Dr. Sultan Tareen.
In all public hospitals outdoor patient departments (OPDs) remained shut for the 41th consecutive day. The emergency services and operation theatres also remained suspended for the seventh consecutive day.
The suffering patients all across Balochistan have become helpless as there is nowhere to go for their treatment in spite of grave situation.
