Kabul: Taliban have urged North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato) to copy the French and announce withdrawal of their troops from Afghanistan.
Hailing the decision made by France, spokesman for Taliban Zabihullah Mujahed termed it ‘good for the Afghan and French nations.’ He said “We urge the others to follow France and leave Afghanistan, end the occupation and leave the fate of the country to Afghans themselves.”
Nato troops, including the U.S. forces entered Afghanistan after year 2003, reportedly to end insurgency and eliminate ‘save havens’ of terrorists there.
However, the troops faced incredibly high resistance from Afghan fighters and an everyday escalating death toll, recently prompting the French to abandon the operation.
