Islamabad: Commending Supreme Court’s verdict (SC) on prime minister’s contempt of court case Pakistan Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naik said Justice and democracy were victorious today.
He said he was thankful of the court on dismissing charges of contempt of court against Prime Minister.
Naik was talking to media outside Supreme Court. He told media that the Government had always fulfilled court orders.
Naik said he had written letter to Swiss authorities. “The letter was sent through diplomatic channel. The authorities have received the letter and now the matter is in hands of Attorney General of Geneva.”
Naik said he had presented all documents before the court. “It’s better late than never,” he added.
He was of the view that the government never wanted democracy to be derailed. “The government wants to strengthen democracy. Institutions have to work within their constitutional jurisdiction for the betterment and prosperity of the country,” he added.
Answering a question about former Prime Minister, the law minister said he was not the part of Gillani’s government. “Yousuf Raza Gillani has remained our Prime Minister and fraudulent cases were being registered against him.”
