San Francisco, CA: NerdWallet, the leading data transparency and financial literacy organization, released new analysis today of the 400 richest Americans to find that over half of the country’s richest 400 billionaires made their fortunes in one of these top 4 represented industries: finance, retail, tech, and oil & energy.
NerdWallet broke down the ‘source of wealth’ data in the newly released The Forbes 400: The Richest People in America by primary sources of wealth, to find that 205 of the 400 listed households, or 51.25% of the total list, made their money primarily in some combination of finance, retail, tech, and energy. From Star Wars to Beanie Babies, and from hedge funds to big oil, the Forbes 400 richest billionaires in America represent a wide range of industries in America.
