Islamabad: In conflict to a general perception and a research conducted by none other than US Universities that the US drone strikes in Pakistan are killing most of innocent people and proving counter-productive, Awami National Party senior leader and Chairman Senate’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Haji Adeel terms the dangerous machines as “Ababeels”.
During a meeting of Senate’s Standing Committee on Friday, Haji Adeel fully supported the US drone strikes, which the Pakistani government opposes publicly.
The senior ANP leader has not ever been seen supporting the US drone attacks in front of people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but behind the closed doors he does so.
It is to mention here that the Ababeel birds have significance in Islamic history as flock of the little birds have busted flash of huge elephants which Yemen’s governor Abraha brought in to demolish Holy Kaba. The Ababeels proved to be blessing of Allah for the faithful.
Though US academics says most of innocent civilians are being killed in the US drone attacks, the ANP leader supports the deadly strikes without mentioning whether he sees preys of drones as innocents or huge elephants of Abraha.
Adeel also criticized the Pakistan Army for what he said its failure to cope with terrorism.
