Colombo: Blistering opening partnership between Imran Nazir and Mohammad Hafeez against the weaker Bangladeshi team led the Pakistani team to the super eight stage of the Twenty20 World Cup 2012, here on Tuesday.
The Bangladeshi bowlers seemed helpless at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium against the blazing innings of the openers who helped Pakistani team to chase a huge target of 176 runs for the loss of only two wickets.
Imran Nazir 72 scored the fastest fifty in T20 World Cup with achieving the milestone in just 25 balls. Earlier the record was held by Chris Gayle, who achieved the milestone in 26 balls. The two openers also broke the record of highest partnership for any wicket in World T20.
Although Hafeez 45 got out just after Nazir but Nasir Jamshed 29 and Kamran Akmal 22 lead the team to the success.
Abul Hassan was the only successful bowler for Bangladesh taking two Pakistani wickets. The other bowlers failed to make any impression.
Earlier, Shakaib Al Hassan scored 84 runs on 54 balls to help his team to score a target of 176 runs.
