Washington: United States (US) State Department spokesperson on Tuesday reiterated the US stance on CIA informant Shakil Afridi and said that they would continue to strive hard for the release of the informer, who help CIA in locating al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden.
Giving a routine press briefing to media on Tuesday, Victoria Nuland hoped that Pakistan would consider the human rights in the case of Shakil Afridi.
She further refused to comment on the recent interview given by the the CIA informant to Fox News.
“There is important work remaining in order to eliminate the militancy within Pakistan.”
Nuland appreciated the role played by Pakistan in the war against terrorism and said that US would continue to work with Pakistan in order to end militancy.
The spokesperson further supported the Pak-India dialogue process and said that the improve Pak-Indo ties would help to attain better results for the region.
